The Black Hills Youth Orchestra is here to enrich the lives of youth in the Black Hills area through music performance and education, mentorship, and collaborative partnerships.
Vision
Our vision is to bring music into the lives of as many young people as we can. We hope to remove barriers to entry that exist for so many in the Black Hills community to have access to performing an instrument at a high level.
Mentorship
​The Black Hills Youth Orchestra works with students on more than just music. We hope to remove barriers in their lives whether that is non-musical tutoring, assistance with college and scholarship applications, home challenges and personal struggles. The Black Hills Youth Orchestra will use music as the tool to bring youth together, but our leadership and staff will use all resources to help lift our students up into the lives they want and deserve
Partnerships
The Black Hills Youth Orchestra will leverage our partnerships with the Rapid City Area Schools, Members of the Black HIlls Symphony Orchestra, many other local non profits to help with our mentoring vision and assisting those students with needs
